Ever since the middle of March, I’ve seen signs and slogans and status updates and reminders everywhere that say “Love is not cancelled.” And that’s so true. But what I HAVEN’T necessarily felt is that JOY isn’t cancelled. Because oftentimes, JOY has been so hard to find. Love has remained but uncertainty and frustration and disappointment seem to quite frequently take the place of JOY.
After many many many months of not photographing weddings, I returned to photograph Evan and Susie’s wedding. And JOY was all over the place. Really. Joy and laughter, everywhere I turned. Friends were happy, families embraced, and that unsettling sadness we’ve all felt in 2020 was nowhere to be found. Joy was abundant. So abundant. And what an honor it was to return to the profession that I love with such a joyous celebration.
I just cannot stop gushing about Susie and Evan. Like so many couples, the pandemic caused Susie and Evan to postpone and make change after change after change to their wedding celebration. Susie thoughtfully planned her wedding well in advance in an organized fashion… and then she did it again. And again. And I’m so happy that she’s married to Evan… at LAST!!
